Warm saltwater fly
Easy
- Run on the thread at the hook eye and remove the tag end. Secure the end of the plastic canvas strip with cross wraps leaving a small space behind the eye.
- Tie in the eyes along the front of the shank and add superglue to the thread wraps to secure the eye stalks in place.
- Tie in four strands of sili legs by the middle between the eyes. Wind the thread to the end of the straight shank and make a whip finish.
- Remove the hook from the vise, push the free end of the plastic canvas over the point and up onto the shank. Secure with some thread wraps finishing at the rear of the looped plastic.
- Tie in a length of yarn and then take the thread forward to behind the hook eye.
- Wind the yarn around the hook and the plastic skeleton making a series of wraps at different angles until the body is formed.
- Tie in the yarn at the hook eye, trim off the waste, whip finish and varnish the thread wraps.
- Apply some thin superglue along the back of the body and allow it to soak in. Don’t use too much, just enough to bond the yarn wraps to the skeleton.
